Yogurt in Sweden - Help Please
Just moved here almost 2 months ago and haven't found a yogurt that I like yet. I've even tried the Yoplait here, but wasn't really impressed. My mother-in-law says yogurt isn't supposed to be sweet, but the last yogurt I tried here was too loose in consistency and had a tart/bitter/dry aftertaste. I'm looking for something sweet with a firmer texture, such as Yoplait Whips or even regular Yoplait (with the same sweetness). I suppose I could just add sugar, but I'd prefer to avoid that because I think I'd end up adding way too much to get it sweet enough. I on the other hand think most of the yogurts here in the US are way too sweet, and I would LOVE to have some Swedish ones.

I only like the Arla's Yoggi Dröm yogurt, myself. It's thick, creamy and just a wonderful taste. The vanilla is my absolute favorite, but the White Chocolate with white peach is rather yummy too. Not into the runny yogurts even after 5½ years here.
You can now get it in one liter containers in some stores rather than the single little packs.

I like Yoggi and Dannon, but yes, I miss Yoplait Whips. I don't think they have anything like that here.

The yogurt here is totally different, being more tart and definitely runny. I eat Arla's cultura brand because of the active, live cultures it has, but I don't know that you would like it as it is a bit on the sour side. Thankfully, my boys like it too, with a bit of musli on top which masks the sourness.
You could also try Turkish yogurt with some jam stirred in. That's pretty tasty. _________________ I refuse to believe that trading recipes is silly. Tunafish casserole is at least as real as corporate stock. ~Barbara Grizzuti Harrison

I like Swedish yogurt better than US. I actually switched over to Soy yogurt here in the US because it reminds me more of Swedish yogurt. I was in the same boat as you larsson but then I just got used to the Swedish kind and liked it better.

The Danone, Pro-Activa is pretty good. The strawberry, that is.
I cant find the consistency I want either...they simply don't have it here. But I agree, the Dröm Yoggi, Vanilla is quite good...sweet but still a bit runny. So, add a banana and it's not all that bad. _________________ Snickey

Have you tried any of the brands made for children (i.e. with cute animals on the front)? They might have the consistency and sweetness you are looking for. _________________ All parents damage their children. It cannot be helped. Like Bev shared - plain yogurt with jam/jelly stirred in. Good stuff.

The Yoggi ,5% fat peach and passionfruit really reminded me of yoghurts I had as a kid back in the states, maybe not the consistency but the flavor was really strong peach with a taste of passionfruit. was delicious. I tasted the white chocolate white peach yoggi dröm once and I personally thought it was really plain.
A good consitency I found was to take turkish yogurt and mix vaniljsocker

I do this too. Also try stirring in some honey as well, very tasty.

Yep, I recommend the Yoggi Dröm too! Thick, creamy, sweet.. delish. _________________ I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.
