I need some help with beds....

My husband and I are downsizing to a 160 bed from a 180. I am so confused with beds here.....even after having lived here for 3 years I am in complete sticker shock with the prices.

We are looking at a 160, continental mattress. I have seen beds that are "nothing special" for 12,000:-, seen a Hästens for 50,000:-and browsed through a Jysk catalog where they have one for 7000:-. Then there are the IKEA beds.

What are your experiences with buying beds here? Do you really get what you pay for? Excluding the Hästens (no thank you to that one) what have you all purchased that you are happy with?

We bought our mattress from EM and we absolutely love them. If we ever buy another, it will be from there. The price was also decent with great quality, something not cheap, but not a Hästens.. Wink

Their Cumulus continental mattresses look pretty nice.

Svenska Hem also sells mattresses, we've never had one, but it would be the same quality category as EM.
Their "Sandhamn Kontinent" is around 19.000:-.
We haven't bought a mattress from them, but we've bought plenty of other pieces of furniture and we are always pleased.

We have had two 90 box mattress beds with an 8cm thick 180 cm bäddmadras over the top for 10 years. We bought them from Ikea and have been very happy with them until the last couple of months I have felt that they are losing the support. We will buy new ones in the new year I expect. They will certainly be similar Ikea beds again.

Hubby and I got our new bed from Jysk less than a year ago now and I have to say that this is the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on, bar none. And we only paid about 3k for it. It's a 160cm too. I think if you just be sure to set your buns on it at the store... lay down on it and really try it out to be sure it is what you want, then it doesn't matter where you get it.

Good luck!

We have had a 180 bed from IKEA for three years and love it.
Plus it has a 25 year guarantee. And IKEA tends to be better thank most places at 'customer service' type things.

It wasn't the cheapest they have, but the one we liked best in the store. Because I have had back surgeries my mattress is an important thing to me. We love our bed. Just my experience.

I have read some article awhile back that Hästens and these other costly beds are not always worth it. we have bought ikea beds and been really happy. The only thing that I do recommend while testing in a store is to remember that when you get them home they are harder. They are tested often in the stores... We made this mistake and bought a bed that was a little too hard for our taste but it is all a matter of taste, i guess. It is a great bed just a bit too firm. I think the quality is good and the different extra thinner mattresses or whatever you call them to put on top really makes a difference. Good luck choosing!

We have IKEA and LOVE them. (We have two 80s to make a 160). We bought them 4 years ago and they are still the same as when we bought them. Extremely comfortable and not at all costly. I think we paid about 600-700 for each.

Also, I read recently that if you buy a mattress at IKEA and when you get it home it's too hard you can return it for a new one.

We bought our continental king sized bed at Mio.(On sale!) I had previously had a lot of back pain with my IKEA bed but I must say that I NEVER have back pain with this bed!!
(It also has a mattress that has different hardness on either side)

(Not sure which brand bed it is, has a bunch of swans on it.)
