What browser are you using? I'm not sure how that would matter but anything is possible. I'm using IE.

mine work ok too

Try using the smilies to the left of the Message Body when creating a new post.

If you need to use the extended Emoticons (by clicking the View More Emoticons tag) then be sure you do not have a pop up blocker that is preventing a small, new window to open with the extended smilies.

If that doesn't work, please do list what Browser you are using (I.E., Firefox, Safari etc.) and the version number.

(My Smilies are working too...)
